Enshrouded and our Trophy Room Updated

Published on:

One of the things I have not written about very much is the base building and decoration aspects of Enshrouded, which is honestly a pretty big part of the game.  However, I am more explorer than builder I suppose.  Even back in the heyday of our Minecraft world, I tended to build railways and roads and tunnels while others build the castles, towns, and monuments.  So the building is often left to others in our worlds, with Potshot pickup up the lion’s share of the building design and construction while I am off exploring the world or harvesting resources to support the building effort.

Thanks to him we have some very nice spaces in our base, including this garden which is nicely illuminated in the dark.

So I thought I would cover one of his latest projects, the trophy room in our base, which is located behind the house we took over, dug into the cliff back there.

Through the house and into the trophy room

Through a bit of hallway you end up in a large room that is decorated with many items and trophies picked up as part of our adventures in the game so far.

Entering to face the back wall

Enshrouded has done a good job with the giving players things to display and the walls have been covered with items we have gathered.

Turning around to face the entry

I do wish I could zoom in to first person mode so the back of my head wasn’t in the center of every shot.  There is a first person mode for building, but it puts artifacts on the screen.  So I just put on a smaller, less distracting hat and took my screen shots.

The dragon displayed

The centerpiece is the dragon, defeated in our somewhat unorthodox way.

Then there is the cyclops skeleton, now fully assembled and in a spot of honor, dominating one end of the room.

The cyclops now fits in the room

Part of the reason for this post was also to update the progress made since the early version of the trophy room, where we found the cyclops skeleton on its pedestal was a bit too tall for the original dimensions.

Notable is the lighting as well, something the game also is very good at.  Our base is more interesting in the dark as all the buildings are warmly lit in the velvety darkness.

Then there are places like the garden or the bridge that are highlighted with candles.

Those images are probably not best viewed against the white background of the page, but clicking on them will give a better feel.

Behind the cyclops skeleton are two tapestries collected along the way.

On the floor in the center of the room is the mosaic.  Potshot went out and hunted down the pieces for that to complete the set.

While around the room are artifacts and fossils along with some amenities, like the bar over to the side where Potshot is serving drinks.

And, of course, there is a lounge with some comfortable furniture to relax in.

Sitting about in the trophy room

Unfortunately, the game hasn’t quite mastered the ability to relax and seated Potshot and I both look mildly uncomfortable, like we know they’re going to announce it is time to board the second we settle into our seats.

Of course, as I mentioned previously, we are thinking of restarting in a new world when we have the group back together.  As such, we have been scouting some locations that might make for a setting both interesting and useful.  There are great gaps of land that are awkwardly distant from the spires, where it would be useful to have a base.  But we haven’t picked a spot just yet.
