TAGN Fantasy Critic League 2025 – Week Twenty-Seven with Tony Hawk and EA College Football 26

Published on:

After last week’s quiet we actually have two new releases in the league here in Week twenty-seven.

Fantasy Critic League – Like Fantasy Football, but for Video Games

But before we look at that, we must look at the baseline of the previous week’s score.

The Standings for Week 26

Week 26 ended up looking a lot like week 25, with the only notable change being a small score drop for Old Skies and a corresponding reduction in score for Bhagpuss.

With that set, the big score change for week 27 ended up being the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 remake which landed at the end of the week with a solid score.

  • Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 has released!
    • [Picked by Rusty Shackleford (Shilgrod)]
    • Now has a score of 85.3

That naturally saw a change in the scoring lineup as Shilgrod joined the “three games released” club that owns the bottom half of the scoreboard, leaving them in 7th place.

  • Publisher Score Updates
    • Rusty Shackleford (Shilgrod)
      • Score has gone UP from 21.4 to 36.5
      • Moved from 10th place to 7th place
    • Rodent Entertainment (Arhanta)
      • Moved from 7th place to 8th place
    • Slightly Scuffed Studios (Kluwes)
      • Moved from 8th place to 9th place
    • TAGN HQ (Wilhelm)
      • Moved from 9th place to 10th place

So there was that changing up the scoreboard.  And then there was EA Sports College Football 26… which got off to a bit of a slow start.  It actually launched the day before Tony Hawk, but came in with only one review available in the first 24 hours.

  • EA Sports College Football 26 has released!
    • [Picked by Neutical Publishing (Cyanbane)]

Or, at least one review over on Open Critic.  MetaCritic had 23 critic reviews posted by the next day. [Edit: Or maybe I was looking at College Football 25. Sloppy.]  Eventually, after a day’s wait, the reviews started coming in.

  • EA Sports College Football 26
    • [Picked by Neutical Publishing (Cyanbane)]
    • Now has a score of 85

A decent score for a mainline franchise honestly.  We’ll have to see if it holds.

But at the same time a Tony Hawk got a score update.

  • Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4
    • [Picked by Rusty Shackleford (Shilgrod)]
    • Score has gone DOWN from 84.3 to 81.2

That felt a bit like the wrath of the 5 stars, no halves, reviews, though I do understand there was also some quibbling about the sound track for the remake.  Those two shifted the scoreboard again.

  • Publisher Score Updates
    • Neutical Publishing (Cyanbane)
      • Score has gone UP from 51.5 to 66.5
      • Moved from 3rd place to 2nd place
    • Hare Brained Schemes (p0tsh0t)
      • Moved from 2nd place to 3rd place
    • Rodent Entertainment (Arhanta)
      • Moved from 8th place to 7th place
    • Rusty Shackleford (Shilgrod)
      • Score has gone DOWN from 35.7 to 32.6
      • Moved from 7th place to 8th place

But we were not done quite yet, as Tony Hawk got a rebound later on.

  • Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4
    • [Picked by Rusty Shackleford (Shilgrod)]
    • Score has gone UP from 81.2 to 84.0

That was enough to flip flop 7th and 8th place again.

  • Publisher Score Updates
    • Rusty Shackleford (Shilgrod)
      • Score has gone UP from 32.6 to 35.4
      • Moved from 8th place to 7th place
    • Rodent Entertainment (Arhanta)
      • Moved from 7th place to 8th place

That all left the scoreboard looking like this at the end of the week.

The Standings for Week 27

Bhagpuss remains in first place and projected for first overall, with Cyanbane now slotted for second and second.  At the bottom of the board I am now in tenth place, where I have been projected to land since the early days of the league.  Will that be my destiny?

We also had some bids this week, resolving as follows:

  • Lost Soul Aside
    • Won by Rodent Entertainment (Arhanta) with a bid of $11
  • Darwin’s Paradox!
    • Won by Rodent Entertainment (Arhanta) with a bid of $10
  • Kirby Air Riders
    • Neutical Publishing (Cyanbane)’s bid of $10 did not succeed: No roster spots available.

Two of the bids succeeded, but Cyanbane’s failed because he had no empty slots on his roster.  In that situation you have to pick a title for a conditional drop when you do a bid.

Coming up we have the following titles in sight.

Coming Up for Week 28

We will have three titles landing next week, including Donkey Kong Bananza, which I had at one point but traded to for the Pokemon title slated for this fall.  Will that turn out to be a mistake?  I will say, Donkey Kong Banaza has some buzz being a Switch 2 title in a world where I think Mario Kart World is the only other title so far that requires the updated console.
