What are we all playing this weekend?

Published on:

It’s a balmy Friday while I write this, and I’m thirsty. For every so-called RPS staff member who doesn’t respond to my increasingly angry messages, I will punish them by likening them to a particular alcoholic beverage. It’s a punishment because I know nothing about alcohol, and so my reasoning will be entirely askew, I’m sure. Suffer!

Here’s what we’re all clicking on this weekend.

Brendan
Laying aside the obvious pun of likening Brendy to a Brandy, what’s coming to mind here is a Negroni.

Edwin
Having played through Soma last weekend, I am minded to keep my Frictional journey going with a round of Penumbra: Black Plague, but it’s equally likely that I’ll just comb through the lore documents on a wiki. I do like me a Frictional lore document.

Graham
Our fearless and overworked leader is a neat single malt if I’ve ever seen one.

James
Dogtide/darktides-new-arbites-class-is-overrunning-the-far-future-with-exploding-immortal-dogs. Sorry, I mean Darktide. I’ll be playing Dogtide. Fuck.

Jeremy
You’re a classic Old Fashioned, Jeremy. Take this how you like.

Mark
Pray for my wallet. A Steam sale has begun, and I have opened it up like the Arc of the Covenant to acquire some Euro Truck Simulator 2 DLC. My face is melting. Also Wreckfest 2’s latest early access update has added motorhomes, so you can probably bet on me having a big crash in one. I’m also slowly talking myself into the commitment required for another full playthrough of Cyberpunk 2077 that’ll definitely include a big slide. So, in conclusion, a myriad of things.

Nic
I recently bought Teenage Engineering’s medieval sampler. It the stupidiest purchase I’ve made in a long time but, as with all instruments, the best one to buy is the one that makes you want to play with it most, and I am having a brilliant time with it. The downside is it’s got silly latin words for all the effects so I’m learning words like ‘tonus’ and ‘pocus’ which are completely non transferable to any other sampler. ‘Pocus’ is effects though which is quite good.

Otherwise, more Baldur’s Gate 3 honour mode. I’m going to finally let Astarion ascend because I crave more power.

Ollie
I’m still deep in the learning process of Rematch, but I’m happy to say I’ve finally moved on from the phase of dramatically overarm bowling the ball into my own net as the goalkeeper. Aside from this, I’ve begun yet another playthrough of Elden Ring (Limgrave and Weeping Peninsula are conquered, just Godrick to go), and I’ve also been dabbling in a Crusader Kings 3 game just to remind myself of how wonderful the map is.

But you, reader dear, what are you playing this weekend?…
